[Android 6+]Notification bar, BT, Pausing on calls and other issues

There's been an avalanche of posts recently reporting the following issues:

No notification bar
Widget/notification controls not working
Bluetooth controls not working
Music not pausing when receiving/making calls

The volume of posts across a large number of threads are confusing so I thought it might help some folk if I posted the settings I use on my Galagy S7 Edge. Oh, I should add that I have not (so far) experienced any of the above issues.

I'm running android 6.0.1 and spotify 6.5.0.1816.

Permissions

Android settings > applications > application manager

Scroll down and tap "spotify"

Tap "permissions"

Toggle on:

Contacts
Storage
Telephone

(If you don't see all of these, you may need to tap "more" at the top right.)

Now go back and tap "notifications".

Notifications

Toggle on:

Allow notifications
Preview in pop-ups

The rest should be toggled off.

Power Saving

Android settings > battery > app power saving

Tap on the "detail" box

Tap on "Spotify"

Tap "Disabled"

Additionally, Samsung users should turn off any power saving mode initially.

Restart Phone

At this point, it's worth quickly restarting the phone and, hopefully for some of you, the issues will now be fixed.
