[Solved] - Android 7.1 Pixel Bluetooth issues are a driving hazard

I am having several issues with Spotify over Bluetooth on my Pixel. I have tried this on multiple audio systems and I am seeing similar results. Please don't wait until someone has an accident to fix this. The workarounds cause you to have to take your eyes off the road in order to pick up your phone, unlock it, find the Spotify app, and then find the controls in the app.

Sometimes when taking phone calls Spotify starts playing through the phone call. Even reduced frequency range is apparent. (Workaround, open the Spotify app and stop the music). This also happened on my HTC One M8 with Android 6, but not nearly as often.
Most of the time the hardware buttons on my media output device do not work for changing songs, pausing or starting. (Workaround, Use the controls in the Spofify app). This never happened on my HTC One M8.

I received a system update from Google and all three problems appear to have gone away.
