Music stops when opening other apps

I've searched for solutions and found none. I tried the battery optimization thing, and it did nothing. Half the time the music just stops, and the other half the app closes. How can this be fixed?

I'm using a new Marshmallow tablet.

Can you provide details of your device and confirm which spotify version you are running?

Not that it helps but this happens to me too

I'm on pixel and using version 7.1.0

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and I'm using the most current version of Spotify.
