Hi,

My account (peter.wall) was upgraded from a Free to a Premium through being made part of a family account. It is not the admin account. This works well on my PC with all the added features of Premium showing OK. On my android phone (OneplusOne android 5.0+ rooted) the app simple does not want to recognize that I have a premium account, nor does it want to sync playlists or anything of such. I can search for new music fine, and everything plays OK, but if I try and sync a song or such it just throws me back at the upgrade to premium path. Under Settings it clearly states that I have a Free account, but if I logon on my PC it clearly states I have a premium through a family account. I am at a loss..

I have tried;

Forcing the phone to go "online" within the app by searching for a new artist and playing a new song not previously played

Clearing cache (both inside the app and in android app setting)

Logging in and out from app

Uninstalled app and installed again

Rebooted phone

Note that his has been ongoing for a while, so it is not a bug within latest release of Spotify or so. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your reply. I tried reporting it to Spotify support when it first arose, but got the standard 'Have you tried turning it on and off again' so put it on hold for awhile and now tried here instead. Guess I have to go back and try and get it bumped up to 2nd tier.

I have found the issue and solved it. It seems as if the Android app does not like it (or perhaps specifically my account) to be logged on using my email. I have so many usernames for different sites and stuff that I automatically logged on using that instead of the username I have for Spotify. Which works perfectly fine on both spotify.com and the app for PC - but not on Android app. As soon as I changed and used my username instead of the email - it started working. Weird, but true. If it is not related to just my account I hope this helps if someone else is facing the same type of issue.

I have exactly the same problem here. I tried your solution and used the username but it did not work. I'll try to contact the support. Strange.
