topic Can't sync local files in Android

Hi there,

I have a local copy of Bad Self Portraits by Lake Street Dive, because the copy on Spotify sounds terrible (major compression). Obviously, the better solution would be for Spotify to fix that, but in the meantime I just want to listen to my local copy. I've created a playlist on my desktop called "Local Files," and placed the imported files in there. On desktop it works fine - it plays my less-compressed copy, and the tracks show up with the "local file" icon. However, following the advice from this thread doesn't work - the playlist shows up on mobile, but my phone just thinks that I'm just trying to download Spotify's copy of the album, and it doesn't sync from my laptop. Anyone know what's going on, or what happened to the old USB syncing mode?

Hi. You'll need to change the metadata to prevent spotify linking the tracks to music in its database. Just adding something like "xx" to the album and artist names should do it. I don't even remember synching spotify over USB - how long ago was this a feature?
