Why would Spotify premium trial take up 2.5 GB of space on my phone with nothing downloaded? New user, please advise. Thank you.

The cache stores copies of music you stream to provide quicker access and save bandwidth when you listen to a song a second time.

Thank you. So if I clear the cache it says it will wipe out all my saved
favorites and even the basics. Will this transfer to a SD card so it
doesn't disable my new phone by filling if up?

It won't affect music you have added to your library (saved) but will remove any downloaded music. You can relocate the cache to an SD card formatted as portable storage - just follow the steps here.
