I'm on Android 7.0 and Spotify V8.4.19.792

I've been having random crashes in the Spotify App for Android. What happens is that songs will all of a sudden stop playing when listening to music (either while listening normally or skipping tracks) and the app becomes unresponsive. When I try skipping to the next track the duration only shows up as 0:00 and clicking play/next/previous doesn't work either.

I've read in other threads that Battery Saving might cause the issue, but I usually have it turned off during the day when listening to music. I use wired headphones with a remote (though for iOS, so only play/pause/skip work). Usually force stopping the app and deleting the cache helps, but right now there's no getting the app to start playing music again. I don't want to have to reinstall the app and download all my music again whenever the app crashes.
