Deleting app data

Hi,

I'm new and I haven't seen any answers to this. If I'm wrong then please point me in the right direction.

Anyways, I am a non-premium user and recently have been annoyed that Spotify is using about 3gb of my phone storage. After a bit of digging I found that one could safely delete the app data and retain all playlists etc. Maybe I just don't understand, but is the 3gb of data simply playlist info? Will it be redownloaded once I log back in? I have yet to see if the cache begins to regrow, but if it's only stores audio then why would I as a non-premium user need to store such data (as offline access is a premium feature)?

Hope this wasn't too long and that somebody can help me with this.

Spotify uses your device’s available memory storage for 2 purposes:

To store temporary, or snippets of, music for streaming (i.e. as cache). This means that when you press play, you hear the music immediately with few interruptions.
To store downloaded music if you listen offline (Premium only).

Then I assume it's okay to delete and limit the size of the cache as I am neither premium nor mind buffering.
