#MusicMonday is the hashtag I've been using for quite a while to share music recommendations from up-and-coming artists. Always fresh, and always different, trying to look for trends before they become one. You can check May's review for more music.

Hey there! This edition is focused on not-your-ordinary music genres, proof that inspiration strikes in many flavors. Give them a listen, and enjoy, with a word from the artists themselves.
🎧

Lyia Meta – I Fall in Love Too Fast

Promises made in the night
Are just illusions that love will last
It's the music and moonlight that I can't deny
Oh, I fall in love too fast

Did he come here tonight to bewitch me
Should I run from the spell that he casts
And maybe I'll just let him kiss me
Oh, I fall in love too fast

Oh, what a way to start our worldwide trip! Welcome to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a classy jazz track about that time where the room starts to spin each time that special person holds your hand, and your resistance unwinds:

"I've always been drawn to the timeless quality of jazz pop/orchestral pop, and with I Fall in Love Too Fast, I wanted to pay homage to the classics that have endured through generations.

The lyrics, written by songwriter David Sanchez, capture the essence of love, loss, and longing—recurring themes in my collaborations.

For the past three years, my jazz pop albums have stayed true to the tradition of delivering and creating pieces that feel timeless—songs that, to the listener, could easily belong to the Great American Songbook. I Fall in Love Too Fast embodies that spirit, embracing both the beauty and vulnerability of falling in love too soon.

What inspired me is creating a piece of art that is timeless."

spotify:track:63wa5vQECTRiu3PFrTA3DM:small

The Fungus – End of an Era

In changing times like these
It's hard to see the truth
But every time truth bleeds
You cover up the clues

With decades leaking lies
Dissolving our fuse
detention of our minds
To justify abuse
You leave what's left to die
claiming all the loot
You think denial ensures survival
We place the blame on you

We fly now to Sydney, Australia, for a thrashy Metal track that talks about how the greed of some has made the world bleed, but, in the end, time tips the balance back to the hands of the greater men underneath:

"That song musically got written as part of a self challenge to write 300 songs in 300 days to develop songwriting abilities.

Initially the song was break up song. And the second half of the song was completely different. Like it chilled out a lot and built back up. It went for 8 mins back then. As a band we played it live a bit and realized the second half wasn't the right direction. The second half got written out and kept the thrash energy.

Lyrics got a rewrite into an anti establishment sort of song with the idea that government lies and oppresses. The end of an era part fitted both the old and new versions so that stayed the whole way through."

spotify:track:73ykLRuctcStShyFbAo1if:small

Corin Diaz – Aisle

Tell me of a time when we were really happy

and I would have remembered a stronger hope.

And you tell me I'm selfish, so careless

Well baby I'm tired of being told I'm so bad

Yeah I'll keep my walls up, you can't break them down.

Can someone bring my mind to the ground

We're everywhere but here going round and round

tired of these same stories

Am I screaming loud enough

We now travel to Nashville, TN for an Alt Folk song about thinking you'd be fine after a break-up, acting like you don't care, but ultimately you end up being haunted by your own thoughts:

"This song has undergone many edits and transformations. Originally written on guitar, it featured a much shorter, catchy punk-pop hook centered on the theme of being young and broken.

The lyrics reflect the struggle of feeling lost while growing up, drawing from both my personal experiences and those of friends. These ruminations have shaped the song, capturing the essence of youth and vulnerability."

spotify:track:4JnCekXOlCuIE2hgEQnaV3:small

Points – The Artist

You can paint with feeling
Carved your name
Right here, real deep in my chest

You're leaving
On your voyage
Vacating our home

Deep down in the pit of my stomach
I know we'll erase each other
don't hold me back sweetheart

Next stop, Baldock, England, for an Alt Indie Rock track about that aspiring artist you love that can't be held back from meeting with a destiny of success, far away from you:

"The song was written about letting someone go to follow their ambition and goals, knowing it will probably be the last time you cross paths.

The person that brings colour to your life is gone but you didn't want to hold them back from filling their dreams."

spotify:track:5IPBhV7G1BCDaS47QkJOJl:small

Industry Standard – Ditched Out

Ditched out of my life, it's gone down without a hitch
Looking for a culprit, got a scratch I wanna itch
Detritus of my thirties got me wadding round in sewage
Dumped over my wallet like a cut I wanna hemorrhage

We travel south, to finish the trip with a bang coming from London. A self-defined Wonky-Tonk Swamp Pop track about the things you might do, when you don't have someone around for support. Singer Gaby explains:

"Lyrically the song is about catching your toxic coping mechanism before hitting the destruct button."

spotify:track:30DTJdTVoQEtQrme103Ln5:small

Listen to them and much more on the complete Playlist

spotify:playlist:2IYRLjcwf2X9vC0QrI0b0P

See you next month!

@GripStudio Good question, some of the artists reach for me with their releases, which are very welcome. Others are just word of mouth, from artists that release music frequently.

About genres, and regions, they come and go in waves. I remember there was a time where a lot of Stoner Rock was released. There are also times where Latin Pop is prevalent, but I must say that the Indie Rock scene in the UK, and Australia, constantly produces very good music. 🙂
