Shuffle won’t shuffle

I am a free member with a playlist of 1000+ songs. At the top of my playlist, I have indie/ rock tracks, and more recently I have added a great deal of metal to my playlist as I have joined a metal band. Unfortunately, Spotify refuses to shuffle from the full pool of songs and will only show me any of the first 14 songs, usually in an exact order. This is a big problem for me, as with a playlist so long, I enjoy listening to different music. But the same 5 songs are dull now. Handsome by the Vaccines, Old Yellow Bricks by Arctic Monkey, Hard to Beat by Hard-Fi, and Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones have all been virtually ruined for me as they’re the only songs I hear. This problem occurs for my other playlist too, which I use on car journeys and is considerably smaller. If there’s anything I could do to stop this problem, I’d appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
