Plan

Premium

Country

USA

Device

iPhone XS

Operating System

iOS 12

My Question or Issue

I've dealt with excessive battery drain across 4 iOS devices (iPad Mini 3, iPhone 6S, iPhone X, iPhone XS) and have finally gotten the app to consume a normal percentage. It appears to be related the playback of “Very High” (320kbps) audio files in both offline or streaming formats. Selecting another playback level returns the battery life to a normal range. Is this because Spotify stores music in the Ogg Vorbis format? If it has to “unpack” the larger files prior to playback that could make a lot of sense.

Is there a way for me to maintain this of quality without tanking the battery life?

If not possible with current software, it would be cool to have the ability to override the default download setting for individual playlists. This would allow users to store a Hi Fi set for enhanced listening on nice car audio systems or within the home vs mobile.
