Song link won't open iOS app

My friends and I send each other songs using the song link, but it never seems to work quite right.

I receive the song link through iMessage, click on it, then it takes me to a web page, then asks permission to open the app, then takes me to the app store even though I have the app on my phone.

I'm on the Spotify family plan using an iPhone 7 with iOS 12.1.2. I have my phone set to automatically update apps once they're released.

Any ideas what the issue may be?

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

Does this happen if you try to share the link to another app and then open the link? Have you tried with another Spotify account? Does it happen often with different types of links or just with particular ones?

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
