Inability to continue music through Control Centre on iOS after app-switching

My Question or Issue:

Songs that I were playing on Spotify have always been shown in Control Centre on iOS. As I was working out listening on Spotify, I also tried to open up YouTube to watch a short video. After the video ended, I tried to swipe down Control Centre just to realize I could not continue the music where I left off just a while ago.

I've noticed that sometimes after watching a YouTube video, Spotify will still show in the control center and I can resume playback and other times YouTube takes over that square in the control center and I have to go back to the Spotify app to resume playback.

This happens because the square for play and pause in the control center is for all media so any app can take it over from the previous app. I don't think there is anything Spotify can do becasue that is how iOS is supposed to work.
