Spotify Connect stops playing when quitting mobile app

My Question or Issue

I start a song on Spotify on my iPhone and then connect to my Denon receiver through Spotify Connect.

If I then quit my mobile app, playback in the receiver also quits.

Previously playback would continue.

What do you mean by quitting the app?

Just minimizing it and letting the app in the background?

No, I mean on iPhone, so double tapping the home button, and then swiping up.

Thanks for clarifying 🙂

Because the device you're using connect doesn't have a Spotify app itself it relies on the devices that use it as a device to output audio to for the audio source so in the moment you close Spotify it won't be able to play music on it's own.

This used to be different. Normally I could quit the app on my phone and music would continue on my receiver, the receiver is a dedicated device. That is the hole purpose of Spotify Connect.

Seems that with a new update of the app it now works again!
