I keep trying to play music on Spotify and lately it has been pausing randomly during my listening. May it be a few times a song or once an hour, but it has not stopped

Could you try restarting your device? If the music still pauses unexpectedly, could you try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps?

If you're still having troubles, please follow these steps:

Based on your original post, you mentioned you have an iPhone XS running iOS 13.2.2. The current version of iOS is iOS 13.5.1 (as of 6/10/20). You can update your device by going to Settings > General > Software Update. After updating, let me know if the songs still pause unexpectedly.
Let me know if the music pauses unexpectedly when listening to another audio source, or when you're using specific headphones.
