topic Stop web player from connecting to iOS app? in iOS (iPhone, iPad)

I have a fully updated iPhone SE (2020) with an updated Spotify app. When I’m at work, I prefer to listen to Spotify via the web player on my work computer. During this time, the Spotify app on my phone isn’t open, and I always keep my phone volume on silent unless using headphones.

In the last few months, I’ve had a recurring issue where the iPhone app seems to be connecting to the web player without the app being opened at all, and this adjusts my iPhone volume to be the same as the web player volume on the computer. Is this an issue with Spotify Connect?

I don’t mind being able to skip songs and pause/play corn my phone while playing music on the computer, but I don’t want the phone volume to be affected. Is there a way to stop this without setting the phone app to “offline” manually?

Hey @ontilmorning,

Thanks for the post.

You can try the following - once you open the web player, click the Connect icon and make sure that the Web Player is selected as a current playback device.

This way your phone should not be connected at all and changing the volume on the Web Player shouldn't have an effect on the phone. You can also check if the Spotify app is running in the background on your iPhone and force quit it.

Keep us posted if this helps.

For this issue, try closing out of the Music app and restarting your device. Also, if you sync your music library to another device, check to see if your recently played music appears there as expected. I hope this information is useful.
