Spotify Connect - need premium subscription?

Hi all - beginners’ question. I want to use Spotify Connect on my Ruark R3s, which is equipped for this. It worked for about a hour with my free Spotify subscription, but now, when I try and select the device in the Spotify App on my iPhone, it says “Ruark R3 - premium required”. Is that normal? Why would it first work with the free subscription? Many thanks!

What about with older stereo receivers?

I did the log out and back in twice, but I still can't use Spotify Connect on my Yamaha R-N301.

Same thing just happened to me. Can still listen on my Roberts Stream 94i (at least until the next firmware update anyway).
