Songs keep repeating in any type of playlist I put on

Regardless of what type of playlist I am listening to (self curated, Spotify playlist, artist Radio, etc.) the same songs will play repeatedly throughout the listening experience. This is occurring when 95-99% of the playlist hasn’t been played yet (sometimes the same song will play again with only one different song between plays).

To be clear…

This occurs with and without shuffle play enabled.

Any kind of playlist.

I noticed it started happening around December 25th.

I am currently using version 8.8.0.384 of the app.

I primarily use iOS version 16.1.2 on an iPhone 13 to control the app.

I hope Spotify gets a handle on this soon. I’m ready to jump ship.

This type of issue is commonly related to the play queue. Sometimes, you can add an entire playlist or album to the queue by mistake, so first; we'd recommend clearing the play queue by following the steps mentioned in this article to see if it makes any difference.

If the issue persists, it could be also related to some damaged cache stored on your device. In this case, we'd suggest performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

This has been happening for a year or two now for me. It drifts in and out. Spotify obviously can’t find the fix? Prices increase and this issue remains

Hey all,

My Spotify has been acting weird all day. It just keeps jumping back to the same album no matter which Playlist I use. It's happening on every linked device I have, so I figured I'd send up a flare.

My Spotify has been messed up recently and this repeated song thingamaji is something I can relate to. If I click on my playlist and if it doesn't do the weird smart shuffle thing and actually plays my songs it'll play them. Let's say I click out of that playlist and go to a different playlist. And then I return to that playlist I just listened to It will play the same songs that it played in the same order. Like it will not play a new set of songs from that playlist. Also today is a new day I clicked on that same playlist that I listened to last night and what did it do It played the same songs in the exact order that it played the day before. It makes no sense. If only there was a way to fix it but Spotify my Spotify at least has not been correct in the past week. It was literally fine like a week ago and then something happened and my whole app messed up.
