Hey there @LeoM87!

Thanks for posting here and welcome to the Spotify Community!

In this case, the app was probably still open in the background. So first, can you check the app settings to see if the audio quality is set to "Very high" or "High" since the higher the stream quality, the more data will be used?

You can also turn on the Data Saver in the app settings under 'Data-saving and offline.' This will limit the app's data usage. Also, make sure to turn off 'Downloads over cellular data' to prevent the app from resuming any pending downloads in the background.

Lastly, can you download your music using a Wi-Fi connection and activate the offline mode to prevent the app from using an Internet connection?

Keep us posted on how this goes.
/Mateus

I was unsure whether it was Spotify, so I booked another 100MB package. Spotify burned through that in 2-3 minutes and this shows in the Apple data usage history that I reset before. I was not even using Spotify. I have the latest Spotify updates installed as of July 25 in Germany.

Thank you for your reply, however, the question stated was “is it possible for a Spotify user to stream 20GB of content in a single 24 hour period”, a question which your reply did not answer. I appreciate the tips on how to conserve data usage by Spotify, but I am wondering why Spotify has gone from using several GB of data per month to using more than that in a single day!

From what i can tell having the music quality set to the highest rate (320kbps) uses 144MB/hr. That comes to 3.456GB per day if played continually for 24hrs. Multiplied over 30days comes to 103.68GB (per month).

So my question is, when I only stream music, why/how can Spotify be using around 20GB in a single day?
