No Downloaded Songs working offline

Student Plan - Australia - iPhone 11 Pro Max - iOS 17 public beta

Since I’ve gotten onto the new iOS public beta, Spotify has not properly downloaded my music (I had to re-download and I needed the space to update). My app shows the downloaded symbol, and plays just fine when connected to wifi or Bluetooth, but the second aeroplane mode comes on, nothing will play. If anyone could help, that would be vastly appreciated 🙏

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Have you turned the offline mode of the app on before switching the airplane mode on? Do the downloads play this way? Also try performing a clean reinstall of the app as described here if the offline mode doesn't work.

Let us know how that went.

Hey Dian,

I had a quick try of this and it worked thanks.
I do have a question as to why I have to switch to offline mode now, as I never previously did to listen to my downloaded music when on mobile data. As I download everything in very high, my Spotify played only off my downloads unless it was an undownloaded song, even when online, and especially when I had access to mobile data.
Why do I now need to turn spotify into offline mode to use this? Is there an easier way to do it, or a way for it to be done automatically?

Edit: I believe I have fixed it now. I think it’s due to Data Saver being turned on. I’m not 100% sure why that’s the case, but turning it off seems to have fixed the issue. I will update either this thread or make another if the issue re-emerges.

Thanks for the reply.

The app communicates with the servers when you're using it in online mode to be able to play content you have not downloaded. If you click on a song that's not downloaded, the app will know to look for it online. If you do this without an internet connection, the app won't know if the song is downloaded or not so it won't play any of the songs. The offline mode enables the app to look only in the downloaded songs and not online.

Hope this clears things a bit.

When l download a song the say Error the url you entered is invalid the say this to me

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

Take into account that you can only download your music to listen offline by following these steps. And these downloads can only be played within the Spotify app. Any third-party app or service that allows you to download and play music outside of the Spotify app goes against our terms and conditions.

Now, if you get that error message when downloading your music with these steps, send over a screenshot and we'll take a look.

I am traveling for work and am in India, but I can't get spotify to play any music or downloaded music while connected to hotel wi-fi or cellular while here. If I go to airplane mode, then it plays my downloaded music. This is ridiculous when I pay for the premium service why can't I play my music

My Question or Issue

Hello, post by first time user.....have downloaded several playlists and podcasts for when I travel. On a couple of recent flights I haven't always been able to access them, get a message telling me I need to be online. For a flight last week I could play one playlist only, on the the return flight it wouldn't allow me to play the same playlist as I needed to be online...very frustrating!!!
