iOS alarm is Silent when using Spotify Sleep Timer

When I set Do Not Disturb > Sleep Focus with an alarm time of 6am and listen to Spotify before bed and set the Sleep Timer to 1 hour or end of episode, my alarm goes off but it is silent, no audio. I am on iOS 18.1 and Spotify 8.9.92. Others have noted this issue goes back many years.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, since you mentioned you're having issues with the alarm clock on your iOS device, there are a couple of things we think you can try:

Check the volume on your iPhone. You can adjust the volume by pressing the volume up or volume down button, or by going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and dragging the slider under Ringtone and Alert Volume.
Make sure that your alarm sound isn't set to None. You can check this by opening the Clock app, tapping the Alarms tab, then tapping Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a sound.

If the above doesn't do the trick, then we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

Are you using the alarm clock app for iOS or are you using a third-party app to set up your alarms?
Are you using a shortcut to set up your alarms?
We'd like to know if alarms always behaved like that or if this behavior started after a specific event/update.
Does this happen even if you don't set up a timer for Spotify when listening to a show?

I have also had this issue twice this week for the first time. Before bed I played a Spotify track with a 30 minute sleep timer (around volume 3) and then set my alarm for 6:30am. I woke up at 8am both times as the alarm hadn’t gone off! I thought it might have been a coincidence the first time but I’ve only played Spotify twice on a sleep timer this week and both times my alarm hasn’t gone off. I even set two separate alarms - one for 6:30 and one for 6:45 but this didn’t resolve the issue.

I have checked the alarm volume and that the sound is not set to none.

1. I am using the Apple alarm clock

2. I am turning on my saved alarms (I.e. ones that have been previously set and I just switch them to on)

3. I have never noticed this happen before, specifically this week but I have my apps set to auto update so I’m not sure if that aligns with a recent Spotify update

4. I believe it’s just with the sleep timer but will test that out on the weekend. I prefer not to have my phone playing sound throughout the night as I don’t always have it charging but could be a short term quick fix!

We would be happy to hear the result of the tests. Feel free to include any results or app behavior that you notice 🙂 What you can also give a shot is clearing cache to see if it makes any difference & make sure the app is up-to-date.

Should the behavior persist - the make, model & OS version of your device would be helpful, along with the Spotify version.

Volume on phone is up.

Alarm sound is NOT set to "None". The alarm works and sounds off at the
specified time every time I do NOT play Spotify and set a sleep timer.

I am using the alarm clock app for iOS. My alarm is set up using Settings >
Focus > Sleep > under schedule is where I set a "Wake Up" time with Alarm
enabled, sound chosen and volume the whole way up. The alarm works and
sounds off at the specified time every time I do NOT play Spotify and set a
sleep timer.

I, too and experiencing this. iOS alarm. Same alarms for work I’ve had for years. Now if I use sleep timer on Spotify, they do not make a sound. And yes I’ve checked volume and alarm tone and all the things related to the alarm. There’s something with Spotify sleep timer and the alarm operating system that arnt playing together.
