Maybe this can be posted for people who have issues with repeat and shuffle grayed out. i have a premium membership and those buttons are grayed out at times. So i came up with a solution but i am listening on my mac idk anything for windows sorry. When it was grayed out i right clicked the song then choose add to playlist now i can play it over and over or shuffle songs. Hope this helps!

Glad the workaround has worked for you!
In case the issue appears again, you can try removing your cached data to see if that would make a difference.
Taking things a step further - you can also make sure there are no corrupted app data files by performing a complete clean reinstall of the app 🙂

This seems like an odd & unexpected app behaviour, thanks for reaching out!
Try restarting your device and going over the abovementioned steps by me & @kittens2843, they should help out 🙂
In case the issue persists, let us know on which device, followed by its OS version and your Spotify app version.

Shuffle not working on iOS

I recently moved to Spotify and the shuffle function is not working. Whenever I try to press it from the top of the playlist, it stays gray, the only way to activate it is by selecting a song and then from the bottom tab, pressing it. (And even that way it’s still iffy). Is there a way toto fix this? It only works on the desktop app.

I have a Spotify Student Account but I can’t click on the Shuffle Symbol
