Background update playlists on iPhone to Apple Watch?

Device - iPhone 15 PM and Apple Watch Ultra 2

Operating System iOS 26 and Watch OS26

I want to be able to run with just my Apple watch whilst listening to music. I know I can download playlists to the watch from the phone. What'd I'd like is if those playlists were updated and re-downloaded if they changed, in the background.

So that on my next run I have newly updated playlists. Is that possible?

Thanks for reaching out!

The only way to keep all your playlists offline on the Apple Watch is by opening the Spotify app and making sure the songs are synced and downloaded once you open it.

At the moment, there’s no way to have new songs added to your offline playlists download automatically in the background.
