How do I Stream (not play offline) Local Files on iPhone?

I am wondering if there's a way to have spotify recognize my local files in my library, link them to songs that they have in their library, and allow me to stream them to my iPhone as though I added them via Spotify's library and not force me to sync them onto my iphone since I don't have the space for all those tracks. Make sense?

Maybe it has something to do with Apple not wanting Spotify to compete with iCloud? Anyone? Thoughts?

If you add local files to a playlist, and Spotify can link it to something in their library, you will be able to stream it. It has to be on a playlist or starred in order to show up on the iPhone though.
