Its annoying, isn't it. Point 4 says:-

4. Click Erase and Sync to save your existing iPod files onto your computer. Note: to avoid losing any important data, make sure you backup your content in iTunes before syncing with Spotify.

I did the same, but I had a backup. Which was good cos it didn't back up mine either.

What is really annoying is that the whole process is pointless anyway. You cannot sync your Spotify playlists to any ipod other than an Ipod Touch because the music is encrypted and only the touch can run the app to decode it, so without a Ipod Touch you have no advantage in using spotify as your music hub.

Backup?!

So I'm a regular spotify user, and discovered this lovely thing today where I could put spotify playlists on my ipod.

I was thrilled, having an old Ipod classic that was full to bursting that I could now tweak.

I plugged it in and read the bit that said Wwe'll need to delete all your mp3's from your ipod, but you can back them up in the next step"
. I read this twice, since my music is only on my ipod, is years of collecting and some is highly sentimental and pretty muc irreplaceable. content I could back it up, I click to go to the next step.

Here's the important bit. I click backup, erase and sync, and it gives me the file location on my pc it will backup my files to.

For those thinking I'm mad, here is the process I followed.

https://support.spotify.com/uk/learn-more/faq/#!/article/How-to-sync-iPod-with-Spotify

now spotify did indeed create the folder it said it would backup my ipod music to. ... but imagine my horror when the darn thing is EMPTY.

Yes EMPTY. ITS ALL GONE. I paid a lot of money into those files not to mention the quantity, and sentimental value. I now have 0 music. ZERO.

It said it would back them up. It didnt. So where is my music?!
