Clarify Ipod Shuffle Issue

Just wanted to clarify what I am pretty sure is the case, but even though I have a Spotify Premium Membership, I can't put playlists, even those avaliable offline onto an Ipod Shuffle?

Is this is the case it may not be worth my while keeping the membership as running is where I listen to alot of my music and my phone is to large to comfortably run with.

Isn't there a way Spotify could do this such as DRM locks which require it to be reconnected every month, and then it can work out royalties from your play count and allow you to keep the content if you've paid your months membership in that period?

You are correct, you can not put any content from Spotify onto any device that does not have a supported Spotify application - which means Spotify content can not be synced to any iPods other than the Touch. (Spotify also don't support any iPods with lightning connectors)
