Spotify on Ipod touch

I have opened up Spotify on my Ipod Touch and for some reason when I go to play something (shuffle play), it will only play the first few seconds and then stop (it still looks like it's playing).. I've plugged in my headphones and tried it through the loudspeaker and there's no sound at all, but It still looks as though the song is playing.

I click the volume icon on the bottom of the Spotify now playing screen and it tells me that I can connect to devices with Premium. Surely I don't need to have premium now to use it on a mobile device?

I am getting increasinly frustrated with Spotify. I have got a free trial with google music until December and I actually think that would be more worth the £9.99 a month than Spotify.

Could you try doing a full reinstallation of the app?
