unable to sync between desktop and iOS

today i tried to sync some local files to my iPhone, a process that i have done many times in the past with no issue.

now i find that new playlists created on my mac desktop do not show up on my iPhone or my iPad. similarly, any changes made on the iOS devices do not show up on the desktop.

any suggestions how this situationn might be resolved?

Can you try logging out and back in on all of your devices and see if that helps?

i rebooted iphone & mac which did not fix the problem straight away, but within 10/15 minutes i noticed the playlists on my mac had appeared on my phone & i was able to access them.
