What happens when you tap Shuffle? Keep in mind, on iPhone with a free account, you can only listen to songs shuffled. On the iPad with a free account, you can listen to any song on demand (with ads).

This FAQ more or less explains it: https://support.spotify.com/au/learn-more/guides/#!/article/subscription-levels

All songs are greyed out?

I have tried to reinstall the app but still the same problem. I have looked for the "offline" setting to make the app "online" but I don't think there is such a setting since I have a free subscription.

Everything is working just fine with the same account on my iPad.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vme996scqw3upho/g.png?dl=0

It seems like Spotify is unable to get a connection. This can be caused by one of three reasons;
1. Your internet connection is down (or blocks Spotify but this is highly unlikely)
2. In Spotify Settings, tab 'Playback' the option 'Offline mode' is ON, this should be off.
3. In iPhone settings you have shut down cellular data usage for the Spotify app. (iPhone Settings app > Cellular > Scroll down to Spotify app)

I hope this helps!
