but can't we just use the webversion ?

Unfortunately, Spotify only supports iOS 7, 8, and 9 right now.

The web version will not work on iOS devices, you will have to install the app.

The web player uses Flash Player.

Hopefully Spotify will move to HTML5 in the future because Flash Player makes it sooo slow.
