Auto-lock setting on iPhone

Since 4 days ago, everytime my iPhone goes black, the music stops. This was never an issue before. And while music is playing, everytime I open another app, spotify app closes. This also was not an issue before. When I emailed a customer service about this, she suggested the "unorthodox" method of setting it to NEVER. But that would drain the battery real fast. Any idea how to fix this? I am a premium member with an iPhone 4. The latest IOS is installed.

Today for the first time ever spotify would only play, on my IPad, when the app was open. Basically made me unable to listen to music while doing anything else on my Ipad. Is there a way to stop it from doing this?

Same Here. After installing the latest update. Basically makes Spotify useless...please fix this asap.

Ive been having the same problem. It might be since the last update, I can't open other apps without it pausing itself.

This may seem a little unorthodox too, but have you tried re installing the app to see if it helps?

I actually ran into this myself once upon a time. To get music playing normally again, I did the following -

* Opened up Spotify

* Held down the Power button until it says "Slide to Power Off"

* Hold down the home button until the app shuts down.

* Reopen Spotify.

You should get tracks playing continiously now.

I'm getting the exact *opposite* - Spotify will play on my phone when it's locked, but not when it's unlocked. I've tried fully restoring the phone, still no luck, same result.
