Local Files Not Syncing

I'm trying to sync local files from my computer onto my phone (iphone 6s). I've followed all the steps that I've seen in other posts and from the app itself, but nothing has changed. I am logged into the same wifi and I have clicked download on both my phone and computer, but it has stayed grayed out. Any help on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated

Have you added the local files to your phone? I had to sync the songs to my phone first, then add them to my spotify playlist and download the playlist for them to work.

How can I sync the songs to my phone without using my computer?

When I was doing this, I plugged in my phone to my computer, and synced the songs to my phone using my itunes. Then added the songs from my local files in spotify to a playlist and downloaded the playlist. That worked for me.
