Supported iPod versions

I have a docker for iPhone 4S. I want to buy an iPod that will be able to work flawlessly with Spotify and use this old docker.

Is there any page explaining how far back can I go and which versions of iPod are supported? For example, I've read that the iPod 4gb 4th gen is not supported.

Thanks for the reply. I see referenced the iPod Touch. What about the iPod classic 6th generation and the nano?

The only iPod that Spotify supports is the iPod Touch. This is because it is the only iPod that has an app store for apps just like the iPhone/iPad.

Spotify is a service and you have to use the app to listen to music, you cannot export the music outside of the app. The non touch iPods require MP3 files. Spotify does not offer MP3 downloads.
