topic Opening Spotify sets full volume in iOS (iPhone, iPad)

I normally play music through Spotify on my Mac. I have the volume set to 100% as I use an external DAC.

If I open Spotify on my iPad while it is on the same network as the Mac, and Spotify is open, it sets the iPad volume to 100%. Even if I don't play anything.

How can I prevent this from happening as this is not the behaviour I expect. Each device should have its own volume.
