buttons for repeat on android app

there are two buttons With two arrows.

wtf do they do?
something to do with repeat.
they are totally not intuitive and nothing on screen explains what they do.

it's ridiculous.

there's no way to try to find out what they do without a bunch of waste of time trial and error.

is it too much to ask that an application be intuitive and buttons have labels or text on screen that describes what they do.

or a help button that explains what these things do

This means that the songs will be shuffled:

This means that the playlist will be repeated, and when pressed it will show a 1 meaning that it will repeat the currently playing song over and over again:

If I'm playing music from my songs and press the repeat button, nothing happens. Does it only work when playing from a playlist?
