Notifications pausing music when using bluetooth

Here's the scenario I've found. I want to know if anyone else can replicate this.

I turn my iPhone or iPad off silent mode by sliding the hardware switch.
Connect either device to my Jawbone Jambox
Play some music using Spotify. All works well until I receive a notification.
Upon receiving a notification, music is paused. This can't be replicated when using headphones or playing through the speaker of the phone/iPad.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Yes I am getting exactly this. It happens when listening TuneIn radio too. Any notification from gmail/twitter/facebook etc pauses the music! Can't find a solution.

SAME THING... Spotify will pause every time I get a notification from Snapchat.
