My Question or Issue

Hi,

I want to upgrade my free account to student premium. I am German but I live and study in Austria. Since within the European Union it is no problem to use a German bank account while living in Austria, I never got an Austrian bank account.

Why doesn't Spotify accept bank accounts or PayPal from another country? I don't see any problem, but this is keeping me from getting an Upgrade and I think this is a very poor reason.

Getting an Austrian bank account only to be able to pay for Spotify is not an option.

Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks for reaching out here and welcome to the Community!

In order to activate the student discount your account’s country settings need to match the country of your university and you'll also need to use a payment method issued in that country. This has to do with licensing reasons, since music availability varies from country to country.
