Currently on month #1 of student premium. I understand each Student Premium subscription is a 12-month period, renewable up to 3 times for a total of 4 possible 12-month discounted periods. However, let’s say I cancel my subscription for a few months in the middle of a 12 month period; if I were to subscribe again after canceling, would that “count” as one of the renews? Thereby shortening my full possible subscription period?

The duration won't be affected by canceling or renewing your Premium Student subscription, it'll always last 12 months.

So really, the full duration of Student Spotify Premium is always 48 months, regardless of whether that period was continuous or divided?

It always lasts 12 months and you can renew it up to 3 additional times.

So for example, I start my subscription for the first time. Go one month and cancel. Then subscribe again and cancel. Then again. Now will I only have 9 months of Student Spotify Premium left as I have renewed it three times?

Okay, so let's say you have just applied for the student discount and you've subscribed to Premium Student: 1 month later you decide to cancel, but shortly after you change your mind and resubscribe. This action won't count as "renewing your student discount" (i.e 2/4, it would still be 1/4), since you're simply changing the plan - the student discount remains applied until it expires 12 months later.

Ohh I see, thank you.

So what this means is if I unsubscribe, then shortly after resubscribe during a discounted session, I lose time I can have a student subscription from the 12 months, because it will expire twelve months after the initial activation date, regardless of whether I was using the premium subscription for the full 12 months?
