Keeps going back to account page after pressing 'get discount' in the 'Manage your plan' page

My Question or Issue

I want to change my premium individual plan to Student plan since I am a student. But when I go into account settings and try to change the plan by going into "Manage Plan" and click "Get Discount" under 'Get Student Premium', it goes back to account page without nothing happening. I just tried doing again after canceling my current plan, but it didn't solve the problem.

Hey @Hypic,

Thanks for reaching out!

Make sure you're following the steps from this article when trying to apply the discount to your account.
If your discount is already verified via SheerID, you have probably received an email with a link to apply it to your account and switch your subscription to Premium Student.

In case the link there has expired or you haven't received a confirmation email, you can contact SheerID to get a new one!
Note: A Student discount can only be applied for a maximum of four years in total and has to be renewed once every year.

Hi, I'm having the same problem but, none of the solutions here are working. I've received a new email but, when I click "Get Discount" I am redirected to the Home page again. This is true under incognito browsers as well.

Just to confirm, have you checked if you're logged in to your account while clicking on "Get discount"?

If so, we suggest that you try again while using a different device and a different internet connection.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I am logged in while clicking "Get Discount". Unfortunately, using different devices or internet connections didn't work either.

Hi @Hypic,

Check if the student discount has already been applied by logging in on your account page. If it is, all that's left is to simply change the plan to Premium Student. You can also do that at https://spotify.com/student/.

In case the student discount still hasn't been applied yet, I'd recommend requesting a new confirmation email from SheerID here.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

What happens if you try to go to this link and select Get Started? Are you prompted to verify you're a Student again? Or enter your payment details to subscribe? If you see the option to enter your payment details that means you already activated the discount and don't need any other confirmation or link. You can simply subscribe and start enjoying.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

I'm having the same problem! No matter what I do I always end up back on my account page. Even if I try to open up the SheerID link in a new tab, in an incognito tab, on a different wifi server, etc., it just won't let me open it, and I end up back on my account page. I've had the student discount for 2 years now and want to renew it again for this year.

Thanks for reaching out in the thread!

Just to confirm, are you able to active the discount directly from the Student page? If possible, you can also give a different device a shot, and open the Student page from there.

If that doesn't do the trick, feel free to let us know if you're seeing any error messages. You can send us a screenshot of it, just make sure it doesn't include any personal info.

Let us know how you get on.

To confirm, have you tried the steps mentioned in our previous reply in this thread? Feel free to give them a shot if you haven't already, it's possible that they'll help in your case. More info on how to signup for and how to use the Student discount can also be found on this page.

Another thing which comes to mind is using another internet connection to see if you notice any difference. And if you're using any VPN, make sure to switch it off as it could interfere with the service.

Hi, I’ve been having the same issue switching from an individual plan to the student plan even after successfully verifying my enrollment. Any link that I click on to get to the student plan page always takes me back to the account overview page and reads I’m still on the individual plan. I tried this already on my computer, phone, and tablet. Clicking on duo or family plans takes me to the payment page just fine, just not the student plan. Will I need to cancel my current plan to get it to work?

If you've already tried using this link, including opening it in an incognito window or with a different browser, it's worth giving it another shot by switching to another Wi-Fi network or testing with mobile data.

Should the issue persist, you can try cancelling your subscription > waiting until your account reverts to free > using the above link to subscribe to Premium Student.
