I have a spotify premium subscription and i am a student. It was charging me 4.99 and i guess after a year i forgot to verify that i was a student and it started charging me 9.99 again. I would like to verify that i am a student and change back to the 4.99 payment. However, its trying to get me to pay instantly. How can i change it and just let it charge me 4.99 at my next billing cycle which should be 12/20/18

I am experiencing a similar problem and I canceled my spotify to let my billing cycle run out and then I'm going to set it up again, so I don't have to pay twice in one cycle. There might be an easier or better way to do this, but I am not sure what else to do.

You can sign up for another year of discount here. Don't worry, you won't be charged unless your current Premium days have expired. But it's important that you log in using your Premium account so you avoid getting a second subscription.
