Student credentials already associated with another account

Hi,

I tried to subscribe to the student discount for premium and was verified. However, when I clicked the link in the email to "get student discount", it said that my student credentials were already associated with another spotify account. I logged into the only other account that I have ever had which I stopped using 3 years ago before I was in university as I am now. I couldn't find any credentials which may have overlapped and am very confused about how to get rid of the overlap and create an account. I used to be in a family discount subscription with my current account, but again I had different "credentials" when this was created.
