Plan

Premium

Country

Poland

Device

PC

Operating System

Windows 10

My Question or Issue

Hi, so just today, about an hour before I decided to write this post I encountered a strange error.

For quite sometime I wanted to get music from my phone onto Spotify (live sessions/covers from Youtube etc.), so I finnally got around to doing it.

Everything went smoothly, from exporting the files to my PC form my phone to exporting them to Spotify. But then I was surprised when I saw that the songs I uploded had changed their names. For some reason they're now some japanese letters.

I downloaded them from a YT to mp3 converter so I understand that's where it might be coming from but I'd still love to find a way to fix that. Thanks!!

Edit:

I just now realised that the only song I didn't download from yt from that list is Nothing Compares 2 You. I'm even more confused now 😕

Hi there @ivanPeaceps,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

This is very off indeed. Note that we can't guarantee that songs downloaded from illegal/free sources might not function properly. Nevertheless, here are a few things you can try:

Check the Metadata of the songs and make sure that it contains only letters from the Roman alphabet and no special symbols like !,',*,#,@ etc. You can also try deleting any details from the metadata like artist, album, genre. To access a song's metadata tags right-click the file > Properties >Details and clear all fields there.

You can also try converting the songs using another third party converting app

Log in with a different account and try reuploading those files again. This will show if the issue is account related or related to the songs themselves.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

Cheers.
