Classical music search has never been good on Spotify. But lately it's been completely broken. It's almost impossible to find what you're looking for, unless you have the exact name of the album.

Example: Looking for Brahms Clarinet Quintet by Amadeus String Quartet with Leister as the clarinet.

I search: brahms clarinet quintet amadeus

There is not even a single album by amadeus quartet (a quite famous quartet) in the results. Emerson string quartet recording shown at top.

Then I search: brahms clarinet quintet amadeus leister

Now there is one album by amadeus but it's not the correct work. How?? Again the emerson string quartet is at the top.

Could it be that this recording is not on the platform? Then I search: "Johannes Brahms: Quintets · Sextets" which is the exact title of the album I find on Amazon. And bang here it is!

And this is not an exception. Unless you're looking for the absolute most famous performers, it's very very hard to find a performance you're looking for. Why doesn't Spotify just match the keywords in the metadata when it comes to classical?

It's the absolute worst. There's no reason for this that I can figure out, honestly -- to your point, even the most up-the-middle fastball of search terms don't work 90% of the time. Maybe they think that a Classical Music fan would be happy with *any* version of Schubert. That'd be like only giving people William Shatner's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" when they search for that title instead of the one by that British quartet. Same difference, right?

Plan

Premium

Country

SE

Device

MSI or HP laptop

Operating System

Windows 10

My Question or Issue

For example, search on "mendelssohn paulus", you get a few hits on albums with Mendelssohn's oratorio Paulus, but also a whole bunch of albums that does not match anything close to paulus. In fact, I can search for "mendelssohn paulus piano" and get exactly the same result. Putting a + sign or AND before "piano" does not make a difference. This violates the description of the search function at https://support.spotify.com/se/article/search/

So, when will this bug be fixed? I see that this is a deliberate change, so you know what you need to revert to make it work again.

I have noticed the same thing. Just search for Rigoletto albums. What's missing is beyond the pale! Spotify has not neither the Pavarotti nor the Placido Domingo at the MET. How is that possible?
