Search is not getting saved in macOS

My Question or Issue

I have the Problem, that things that I searched for are not getting saved in Recent search. Only one Songs was saved in Recent search. When I had my old windows Laptop, my search history was saved.

Thanks for reaching out. Does this still happen only on your Mac or on other devices too? When did this start happening? Also consider trying a clean reinstall, that can alleviate a multitude of issues.

Hello There, This Problem only occures on my mac. the problem first occured after installing spotify on my mac. I will try to reinstall spotify and let you know if it helped

This only happens on my Mac and first occurred in January, when I first downloaded Spotify on my new computer. I tried a clean reinstall, but it won't save my search.

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

We'd like to gather some additional info. Is this happening if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? Ethernet? Both? If possible, you can create a hotspot from your phone and connect your computer to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.

On another note, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running on your computer?

Lastly, and just to confirm, is this happening if you open a different account on the affected device? It'd be awesome if you could check. You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open it on your computer and check.

I am currently at my Grandma's place for vacation, and my search is getting saved.

I think it might be my Wi-Fi because I had trouble with Spotify on my Wi-Fi.

The Spotify version I'm currently using is 1.2.4.912.g949d5fdO.

It might also be because I reinstalled Spotify on my Mac.

Since a clean reinstall didn't help the last time you've performed one, the issue most likely lies in your internet connection. In this case we'd suggest reaching out to your ISP and checking if there are any settings on your router that might be causing issues.

You must be high thinking that this issue lies on the ISP. This is SPOTIFY'S ISSUE!!! Stop forcing us to listen to artists we don't wanna hear. Bring back Search History!

I did a clean reinstall. I removed every single trace of a Spotify file and installed the version from the Windows store. And I kind of got the search history working again. If I search for a song and I choose the song from the 'Top Result' section (red square) and not the 'Songs' section to the right, then the song does get saved to the search history when I go to the search bar. But sometimes I search for an artist and want to choose a song from the list of songs (right section) and would like that song to be saved in the search history, and it does not do that. It's not the best solution but it works somewhat well on Windows.
