That's correct - it will only affect the one particular song (or songs by that artist, depending on which option you choose) that won't be recommended again.

My Question or Issue

I really look forward to my discover weekly playlist and actively use the button "I don't like this song". On Android a message then pops up to say "We won't play that song in this playlist" which is fine.

When I was playing the playlist on my pc however and pushed the same button a different message popped up, something along the lines of 'we won't play this type of song " which is completely different. Any idea how it works because I don't want to block myself off from discovering new great music because of one disliked track.

Hey @PsychMonkey,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

What happens when you use the I don't like this song button should be the same on both desktop and mobile.

As a heads-up, it'd be good to consider that such actions as 'disliking' a song or an artist are generally factored in the app's algorithm to determine your future listening suggestions.

Hope you'll find this info useful. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with!

Thanks for you reply Mario but it doesn't really help me.

1) I'm pretty sure the message was different can anyone else confirm this?
2) If you think that the action of disliking a song creates the same outcome can you tell me what it is please. I guess its probably one of 2 things - it just ensures that song won't be in your discover list again or it's not in your discover list AND it affects the general algorithm in that it won't play "that sort of song again". If it's the latter I will probably just choose not to delete the song. Thanks.

Hey there @PsychMonkey,

The in app notifications might be different (it's Removed from Liked Songs on desktop and We won’t play that song in this playlist. in the mobile version) but the result will be the same, no matter on which device you hit Hide this song. Sorry for the confusion!

If you want to learn more about how we improve playlists made for you, you should check out this support page.

Hope this helps. Give us a shout if you have any other questions.

Happy Listening 🎧

OK so just to clarify, even though the desktop version says "OK got it. Next time we won't recommend songs like that in your Discover weekly" that is in fact wrong and what it means is we will recommend songs like this, just not this particular song?
