topic Import from Windows Media Player in Your Library

Hi! I'm a new user to Spotify. I have thousands of songs and 8 playlists in Windows Media Player, with the songs in MP3 and Windows Media Player (Variable Bit Rate). I'd like to use Spotify, but I don't want to recreate my playlists. I read a reference that you can do a text file import of your playlist and Spotify will recreate it, but I can't find any references on how to do it (except a 2012 post that no longer seems relevant). Is there a way to do this so I can listen to this music through my phone and other devices?

Plan

Free now, but happy to upgrade if this works.

Country

US

Device

Windows 11

Operating System

Windows 11

My Question or Issue

Hi there @Tinchers,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Currently, there isn't an option within the Spotify app that allows you to import/recreate playlists from other services/apps. However, you can look for third-party apps that might offer easier ways to do that. As none of these third-party apps are directly associated with Spotify, we don't have any specific recommendations, but you can try looking for them online. From our side, we recommend creating the playlists and adding the songs from your Spotify account. Or you can search for similar playlists from Spotify or other users and follow them.

We do have the option to import audio files from your devices as Local Files, but this is for music that is not available on Spotify. You can find more info here.

If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
