Use local files on playlists when available

I have Rush's entire discography on my phone, and have enabled Local Files on Spotify. So effectively, I can recreate the entire "Written by Neil Peart" playlist with my own local files. If I go into Offline Mode however, I will be unable to listen to any songs on the playlist even though those files exist on my device. I think Spotify should be able to recognize local files that match songs on a playlist and use the local version instead, thereby allowing offline listening of playlists

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards for now.

For starters, it's not possible to replace songs in our catalog with Local files for multiple reasons, one of them being that it wouldn't be possible to correctly count and credit the streams of the song.

However, if you have the tracks stored on your device, you can create your own playlist with the same songs (using your Local files) that are on the Spotify playlist you mentioned. That way you'll be able to access it while offline. You can also download that Spotify playlist to be able to listen to it offline.

I mean, I kind of do mind. First off I refuse to believe it's not possible to achieve the functionality I described, secondly your suggestion either A.) Creates more work for me, in that I have to create a playlist that already exists, or B.) Is redundant, because I have to download music already on my device. There's no reason this shouldn't be a feature.
