How are the public playlists sorted on our profile? (Desktop) - 2023 with new setup

It would be very nice if we could sort the public playlsit on our profile. Either alphabetically or by followers or a customed order. But with the new update on the design of the home page, that's not possible anymore.

So basically allow us to sort the way playlists appear on our profile, when other people see it.

When a Spotify member searches for me by name “Philip Rosenthal”, then visits my profile and then hits "show all" in Public Playlists they see a grid of squares each a different playlist I want be able to change and control the order of my 75 highly curated playlists as they are displayed in the grid of squares for each playlist.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! Heads up: I've moved your posts to the Help board as they fit better here.

The public playlists that you've added to your profile follow the Custom order you've set in the desktop app or the Web Player. So, if you rearrange them the changes will reflect on your profile as well.

Here's an idea about being able to pin certain playlists to the top of your profile, which you may find interesting, so feel free to check it out, if you haven't already. In the meantime, you can put your favorite playlists to the top of Your Library.

I mean on the profile profile, not my Library. With the new update we can't sort how they appear on our profile. They're organized by recently modified. On the profile not on my Library!

Yeah, I meant your profile, not just Your Library. I'll provide some visual cues that should explain this a bit better:

Here I've set a Custom order and placed My Playlist #5 at the top of Your Library, so it appears first on my profile:

Compare this with the next screenshots, where I've replaced it with My Playlist #2, which now sits at the top: it's now showing as the first playlist on my profile.

Since a few weeks the playlists that I have made public on my profile are out of order, even though I have selected 'alphabetical order' in my library. I also can't seem to move playlists anymore by dragging them or selecting a 'custom order'. How do I fix this? It is extremely annoying because my playslists are numbered and now number 11 is the first playlist of my profile :'). (And no, I have tried to rename the playlist. If i change the number so that it would have another alphabetical order, it still appears on top.) Thanks in advance!

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

@alexiadbbt, would you mind logging out and then logging back in to your account twice in a row? This will trigger a sync between your device and account. If this doesn't do the trick, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately I had already redownloaded spotify and this did not solve anything. In the meantime I have made another playlist, and when I add this to my profile, it appears as the first playlist as well, even though alphabetically it should be my last playlist. Are there any other solutions I can try?

Hey @alexiadbbt,

Apologies for the confusion.

As described by @Yordan above, the public playlists on your profile follow the Custom order sorting in the desktop app or the web player. Changing the sorting method to Alphabetical will only affect how you see them in your app/ the web player, so if you'd like them to appear alphabetically on your profile, you'll need to manually sort them by dragging and dropping with the Custom order method selected.

@21f2knbwjge6xwog3q2a, in order for the Custom order to appear, you need to make sure you've selected the Playlists tag in the sidebar under Your Library.

Please please please let us organize playlists for our public profiles. I have great playlists that I listen to all the time that are at the bottom of my feed because they're old. I want to showcase them to my friends.

Hi all- I was having loads of issues of the same issues with playlists all out of order on my public playlist despite my library being in the desired order. I just tried unpinning my top playlist, and it magically assorted all my playlists in order on my public profile. Hoping this helps someone because it's been bugging me for a while!
