[Podcasts][Desktop] Mass Apply | Mark as Played

As someone who is moving to Spotify as my only audio streaming service. I was wondering if there is an option to Mass apply the "mark as played" flag. I am doing it manually while waiting at the moment.

I switched to Spotify only to consolidate Google Podcasts and YouTube Music into a single platform that I was already paying for. That being said, I have been using Google podcasts for about 5 years and have a lot of episodes that I may have already heard or are not relevant to my queue of daily podcasts. My current issue is podcasts by the same show are being added to my queue that were published back in 2016 or 2018.

This feature would make it easy for a user such as myself to mark all episodes before X date as already played. Thus keeping them out of the recommendations and the "Next up" field.

This brings up a different way to solve this issue. Can we just get rid of "Next up" feature while listening to podcasts as it contains items that are not in the Queue?

Hey @ALaLonde,

We moved your post out of Ideas as the described feature is already available; hope you don't mind 🙂

On mobile, open a podcast and scroll up.

Click on the Settings wheel.

Under Manage, select Mark as Played.

Mark all and deselect any unplayed episodes 🙂

Hope this helps!

Why cant we have that settings wheel on pc? It makes literally no sense that we can mask multiple episodes as played/unplayed on the phone but not on the pc-app

Hey all,

I've just switched from another app to Spotify as my main podcast driver and as a result have a heap of shows that all have years and years worth of episodes now showing as unplayed, which isn't ideal...

In other apps I have seen a "listened up to here" type option to "mass mark" all prior episodes as listened.

Is there a similar function on the Android/Windows/Web client?

Many thanks

Hey there,

Thank you for the response! Its not quite what I was hoping for. Some pods I'm working thru a backlog on and there are over a hundred episodes to go and many hundreds listened too so "unticking" is a real pain in the **bleep**.

What I was hoping to find/suggest to devs was a simple option to scroll to the episode I'm on, check the box that says "listened up to here" and boom. All the older ones are now "listened to" and the newer ones are "unlistened".

This would be much easier when moving from one service to another with dozens of podcasts to administer.

Honestly its one of the main reasons I didn't jump over sooner. The only reason I did was my cell carrier offered Spotify free with my deal. Once in I thought it was great but the thought of the hours of work to get things "right" was a real block to moving.
