Song Preview Keeps Replaying

My Question or Issue

Every time I use the little song preview the past few months songs get stuck in a repeat loop and won’t let me preview the full playlist. It always previews the same handful of songs. It is super annoying especially when I am trying to quick view my Discover Weekly or my New Music Friday. I have cleared my cache and restarted my app and even re-downloaded it but nothing has worked.

I've checked on my end and the Discover Weekly playlist story works as expected. Or you mean the Explore this playlist feature? In any case, it would be best to send us a screen recording of the issue along with your exact Spotify version so we can investigate further.

If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video.

Also, if you've performed only a quick reinstall on your iPhone, try a clean one by following these steps.

Yes, it is the explore this playlist feature! I have done all those things, here’s a link to the issue for drive. I am on version 9.0.18.548

Discover Weekly preview repeats

The “preview” feature for playlists and albums (announced here, seemingly without a specific name for the feature) seems to only partially work for the Discover Weekly playlist.

I can scroll through the first 10 songs, but when I keep scrolling, it shows the preview for the first song again, & then the rest of the first 10 songs, before abruptly ending, without the usual end page that usually lists “explore tracks based on your profile”, and “try something different”.

I do not seem to have this issue with the previews for albums, or other playlists, including Release Radar.

I concur, I have the same issue where the preview only shows the first few songs at the beginning of the Discover Weekly playlist and then goes on a loop without showing the rest.

The Playlist “TikTok-like” feature

This feature will go through maybe 7 songs, and instead of going to the bottom of the playlist, after a couple songs it will scroll back to the first song and not continue on down the line. It does it in a loop

Galaxy A53 running Android v. 14, Spotify v. 9.0.22.543

In the past, I was able to preview all songs on my Discover Weekly playlist using the preview feature (the mode in which users can swipe through previews of songs). However, as of a few weeks ago, this feature only covers the first 10 songs in the playlist.

I have tried re-downloading the playlist, re-adding it to my library, and restarting the app, but this behavior is consistent.

My post was merged into this thread. Glad to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this. I am using Android while other users are on iOS or Windows, so is this a cross-platform problem?

Also, the Playlist Story (???) and Explore This Playlist features are not documented in Spotify's help website that I could find, despite being available for years. This lack of documentation made it more difficult to report and describe this issue.

When I use the “Explore this playlist” button on my Discover weekly (the little rectangle that shows clips of songs in the playlist that you can scroll through), it will allow me to scroll through only the first 10 songs before playing the first song again. I’ve been having this issue for 3-4 weeks- before this, you could scroll through every song on a playlist.

Our tech folks have made some changes backstage so this should now be fixed - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify 😎 👍

If you're still having issues, try performing a clean reinstall of the app.
